At the start of this class I did not know what to really expect. I had no idea what an eportfolio was or how to work it. Not only did I learn what it was and how to use it, I learned what to post and how beneficial it is to a student's education  and life as well. I can use it for educational sharing of information or as a way to meet new people. There were not many people in the class so not a lot of conversation went on with other people this semester, but I did fidn new people on the site and different pages to help me with certain learning. At the end of the semester now I know how to share and talk with people about all types of subjects. I learn from other people and they learn from me.

Well, I graduate  in a few weeks. I cannot believe it. I am not sure that I will have access to this particular eportfolio because I will not be an ESC student anymore. If I do, I plan on looking up more pages and more friends to help with future education. Personal use may not be an option. I may use it to post interesting random things and maybe talk to fellow students, but that is what I use FB for. I hope to be able to use the page though.

I did my final learning showcase pretty easily. I did not find it hard to even pick a topic to make it about. I found my First Peoples of North America class very interesting and easy to share with others. It may not be the number 1 topic of learning for some but if you really sink your teeth into it, it can become addicting. I plan on adding more and more to it even not during this class because that class has me wanting to learn more about it. I love sharing content on here and hope to find more friends to enjoy it with me. The showcase I found to be easy to organize and tons of information just flowed out for me that it really was enjoyable to make.

This week we were told to make a page showcasing a part of our individual learning. I chose to display what I have been learning in one of my other classes this semester. I am taking a First Peoples of North America class that is about the first Native Americans and their interaction with the Europeans. I chose to use videos and parts of a book that stuck out to me from the class because I can explain them and hopefully open others' eyes to see what I am seeing in that class. The audience is for anyone who is interested in learning about Native Americans. I remember learning about them in elementary school but not much more was said about them to me besides a war here and there in American History class. I wanted to show others the interesting facts I have learned this semester that I had never thought even existed. So many stereotypes were presented and so much information was left out to make it look like the whites were the good guys when in reality there was no good or bad guy. It was a bad situation as a whole. I also provided pictures to add to the information.

Since we did not have many people in the class feedback was limited. This far through the class I have learned that feedback is crucial though. From examining other pages on Mahara I noticed feedback from people to the page owner and noticed how effective it was. I wish there was more students for more feedback but I did learn how important it is. All in all I know how important it is to learn from other students and teachers just by sharing interesting information and commenting to each other. I learn like that even on facebook. I hope to get more feedback and give more in the future.

I could not submit my final page it wont allow it cause I did it on my profile. That page we created would not let me edit it. I am submitting this journal to then get you to get to my profile page.

Throughout the last few weeks I have been working hard at learning what more to do with my page. Since we do not have many people in the class there has not been much feedback except from the professor. What I can say though is that I took Betty Hurley-Dasgupta's page and used that has my prime example to develop my page. I also got a lot out of the readings and research we have done the last few weeks. I really wanted to add more videos (which I had to learn how to do) and some informatino to just interest any of my followers. The tool i really took advantage of was the notes tab and the embed tab. I was able to add notes and information about myself and educational information about the field I am in. I liked putting information up so people can see what I look everyday as well as random facts that are interesting. I learned that the more information the better. Editing my page became fun! Adding things that spark my interest or are about me for other people to learn from feels good to me. It is not like an ordinary social media page. This is a media page strictly for education and about you. I really do not want to make any changes to my page. It is organized and easy to read. The only thing I look forward to doing is adding more and more to it! 

The assignment says to edit the learning showcase page but it s not allowing me to do so. What I have done is edit my entire profile page with what I wanted to add to it so you can see the entire outcome of my page from day 1 until now. I hope that is ok. I did not know how else to show everyone without submittng a journal informing everyone.

I went over the parts of public communications for eportfolios and noticed I had pretty much the main concept of the page. I think social media helps with that because even though we may post things on a casual basis we do post some interesting facts sometimes that are for informing/teaching not just chatting. What I learned was that I should share more information on what I have been going to school for and sharing what I know with other majors like myself. To enhance my portfolio I added some healthcare links and even an interesting photo with a collage of words about healthcare today that could get one thinking. I made sure I also added to my section about me about what my purpose is on this page. 

I want all my pages public because everyone can learn from what I say and my opinions and if they comment back I could learn from them. I have nothing on here that is personal that no one else should see. It is for me to share my knowledge and learning with others to in turn learn from them. The audience can see all of my pages. I am going to add more as the weeks go by. More and more is coming up with the new health care reform that will be released to post. I am glad to learn about this. 

The blog I chose is http://sportsnmedicine.blogspot.com/. This blog has so many interesting links, pictures, and information. The site is very easy to get around and easy to read. You can look at all types of injuries and sports that have specific injuries known to occur often during them. I want to make my page easily navigable for anyone to look at anything they want to. I would like to add more pictures of educational things that I am learning about rather than pictures of my life as well as links to any type of health care information. I am a health care management major so it would help myself as well as other health care majors have links readily available when we need them. I am going to try and make it so that all links are big and I can add descriptions under them so that whoever wants to look at them knows exactly what they are opening before they get into it. I hope it all works out.
